Children’s Safeguarding & Designated Safeguarding Lead Training

SJA Consultancy will be facilitating Children’s Safeguarding and Designated Safeguarding Lead Training for professionals with an intermediate to advanced knowledge of children’s safeguarding which will also give guidance for those in Designated Safeguarding Lead roles in settings working with children.

This course will provide an opportunity to gain in-depth understanding of children’s safeguarding and will explore a range of issues and dilemmas as well as providing useful strategies for future decision making.

It is ideally intended for practitioners looking for more robust and comprehensive training who have some knowledge of safeguarding and is not ideal for those who are new to it or have very limited knowledge.

The course will:

Children's Act 1989

Emphasise the key provisions underlining the Children Act 1989 together with associated regulation and guidance.

Consequences of Abuse

Explore the categories, signs and consequences of abuse.

Local Authorities

Familiarise you with the duties of Local Authorities have to all children and specifically those in need in their area.

Innovative Strategies

Provide innovative strategies to respond to low level safeguarding concerns that don’t meet the Local Authority’s threshold of ‘significant harm’.

Serious Concerns

Give guidance about responding to more serious concerns.

Serious Case Reviews

Consider messages and important lessons learned from research and Serious Case Reviews and incorporating them into practice.

Challenges & Responses

Explore safeguarding challenges and responses.

Guidance & Good Practice

Give guidance for Designated Safeguarding Leads and identify good practice.

Adult Safeguarding

Provide some brief information about Adult Safeguarding.
